Kenya: Bandari College Staff Protest

LEARNING at Kenya Ports Authority's main college Bandari was paralysed after employees boycotted work claiming unfair treatment yesterday.

The workers said KPA management through the college principal Ezekiel Langat had discriminated against them. They said a recent restructuring saw many workers at the parastatal get promotions and others better pay.

"We are wondering if indeed we are part of KPA," said one of the workers who sought anonymity. They also called for the removal of Langat and his deputy Charles Nyamora for poor management of the institution.

Efforts to reach Langat or Nyamora were futile. However, KPA public relations officer hajji Masemo admitted flaws in the restructuring process are being addressed.
