Angola: Human Rights Report Drafting Commission Members Train

Luanda — The members of the Human Rights Report Drafting Inter-sectoral Commission are since Tuesday in Luanda attending an upgrading seminar sponsored by the Angolan Foreign Ministry (Mirex).

The programme that will go until Thursday is intended to equip the participants with skills for a comprehension and mastering of techniques, methodologies and procedures for the drafting of conventional and non-governmental reports on human rights, in the framework of the United Nations.

The training programme comprises a cycle that has been conducted within the framework of the technical cooperation with the United Nations System in Angola in the field of human rights, including support for the ratification of international instruments.

It is also designed to build up the capacity of the State's institutions for the promotion and protection of human rights, including the judiciary sectors, the National Police, the ministries of Justice and Human Rights and Foreign Affairs, the Prosecuting Council and others.

This instrument which is part of the project of support for the reinforcement of human rights in Angola, is the threshold of the preparation of the Rights Commission and other Committee on Elimination of Discrimination against Women.
