Somalia: Two Piracy Suspects Arrested in Eyl Coastal Town

Eyl — Puntland security forces in northern Somalia have arrested two men suspected of being pirates, Garowe Online reports.

Mr. Faisal Khalif Wa 'ays, the deputy mayor of Eyl coastal town in Puntland, told Radio Garowe that the two suspects were arrested at Gaba' town 50km north of Eyl.

"When arrested, the two suspects were on a speedboat and had weapons, ladders and other piracy equipment in their possession," Mr. Wa'ays said.

The deputy mayor of Eyl stated that the two suspects have "admitted" to being involved in piracy crimes and indicated that they were traveling by sea from Beyla to Gara'ad, south of Eyl.

Mr. Wa'ays said that the two suspects are now in the custody of Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) units based in Eyl town.
