Nigeria: Shekarau Resigns From Kano Emirate Council

Kano state Emirate Council has disclosed on Tuesday that the immediate past governor of Kano Malam Ibrahim Shekarau who is the traditional title holder of Sardauna Kano and member of the emirate council has resigned his membership from the Council for some personal reasons.

Confirming the letter sent to the emirate council, the Senior Councillor of the Kano Emirate Council Alhaji Abbas Sanusi who is the Wamban Kano told reporters on Tuesday in his office that Shekarau had written to the Council requesting that he wants to relinquish position as a member of the Emirate Council.

The senior councillor added that Shekarau had in the request explained that his party commitments and other reasons wouldn't allow him participate fully in the affairs of the Council.
