Nigeria: 194,000 Children Die of Diarrhoea Every Year'

Kano — About 194,000 children under the age of five die of diarrhoea every year, just as respiratory infections kill about 240,000.

According to a statement issued by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to mark the World Toilet Day, lack of toilet is one of the leading causes of illness and deaths among children in Nigeria,

The statement, signed by Communication Officer, Media & External Relations, UNICEF - Bauchi Field Office, Mr.Samuel Kaalu, said UNICEF is supporting 50 countries including Nigeria to implement Community Approa-ches to Total Sanitation (CATS).
