Nigeria: FUT Minna Gets AG VC

Minna — Following the interim court injunction restraining Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna from selecting a new vice chancellor, the governing council of the institution has approved the appointment of an acting vice chancellor, pending the determination of the case filed before the Minna High Court.

The court injunction was issued in September when the process of selecting of a new vice chancellor began, following the expiration of the incumbent Vice Chancellor's tenure, Professor Mohammed Salihu Audu, on November, 26th, 2012.

The appointment of the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Akim Osarhiemen Osunde was contained in the university's newsletter. Until his appointment, Osunde was the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic of the university. The appointment will take effect from Tuesday, November 27, 2012.
