Lucy Beyan, a student of the E. Jonathan Goodridge High School was early on Tuesday morning found dead few yards from her parent's residence in Karduma Community behind the Dry Rice Market.
According to authorities of the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), Lucy died as the result of a broken neck.
A member of the LNP homicide division only identify as Jerry told our reporter that examination conducted on the corpse showed that she had a broken neck with several bruises over her body.
Inspector Jerry told this paper that the deceased fiancée has been arrested and is in police custody awaiting investigation.
The father of the deceased, Joseph Beyan, recalled that he saw his daughter leaving the house without uniform on Monday morning enroute to school. Beyan said when he asked her, she told him that it was their colour day and so she was not wearing uniform.
"I ask Lucy yesterday morning why she was going to school without uniform and she told me it was their colour day and so I just left it," Mr. Beyan narrated.
He narrated that late in the evening hours he could not see Lucy and had no knowledge about her location. Beyan said when he asked the deceased fiancée Junior brother about Lucy, he (Junior) said that he did not know about her location.
Beyan also explained that about 10 pm Monday Lucy was not home and they decided to look for her in the community but could not be found. He said one of Lucy's schoolmates told him that she saw Lucy the same day she left her house, and that Lucy informed her that she was going to see someone who called on the telephone.
However, Beyan said when he got home by 12 midnight, Lucy fiancé Junior informed him that Lucy had earlier informed him (Junior) that she was not going to sleep home for reason known.
He said early Tuesday morning they were astonished to have discovered the corpse of their daughter in the grass few yards from their house.
While Lucy's killer is unknown, bystanders hinted this paper that she Lucy may have been murdered by one of lovers.
