Tunisia: NCA - IHAE Composition At Heart of Debate

Bardo — National Constituent Assembly (NCA) members discussed the composition of the Independent Higher Authority for Elections (IHAE) at a plenary session held Tuesday in Bardo.

Article 5 of the relevant draft law stipulates that the IHAE Council is composed of a president and eight members from different specialties (a legal judge, an administrative judge, two lawyers, an engineer specialising in computer programming and security, an expert in advertising, a chartered accountant, a university professor and representatives of Tunisian expatriates).

"The Government has endeavoured when developing Article 5 to reach consensus on the quota given to each sector in the composition of the authority, in accordance with international standards," said Minister in charge of Relations with the NCA Abderrazak Kilani.
