Libya: Benghazi Female Councillor Quits

The lone female member of the Benghazi Local Council resigned on Monday (November 19th), Libya Herald reported.

"The reason for my resignation was the obvious and unfair hindrance practiced by some local officials, perhaps in defence of their interests and positions," Libyan councillor Najat Al-Kikhia said.

In the council election last May, Al-Kikhia received more than twice the number of votes as her nearest rival for the position of Al-Birka representative.
