Luanda — The writer Silvio Albino Agostinho André last Tuesday in Kuito City, central Bie Province, won the fourth edition of the provincial youth literature prize.
The award ceremony was chaired by the vice governor of Bié Province for social and political matters, Carlos Ulombe da Silva.
The winner of the contest was awarded 400,000 kwanzas (roughly USD 4000), whereas the second placed, Agostinho Miguel, received 300,000 kwanzas.
Mendonça Ferreira Jonatão, who finished third in the competition, was awarded Akz 200,000.
On the occasion, the winner, Albino Agostinho André, explained that his book, which is entitled "O canto do canto que assobia alma", speaks about real situations of the country, particularly of Bié Province, in view of which the writer, in the same work, appeals for positive change.
He promised to continue writing books, aiming at contributing to the development of the Angolan culture.
The fourth edition of the Bie Provincial Youth Literature Prize had the participation of 21 contestants.
