Angola: Importance of Population Census Highlighted

Huambo — The deputy director of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Lukoki Artur, Tuesday in central Huambo province highlighted that the population and housing census is a cornerstone for the sustainable and harmonious development of the Country.

Speaking at the closing of the workshop celebrating the African Statistics Day, November 18, Lukoki Artur said that the general population and housing census is still a major statistical operation that a country must fulfill in order to obtain data on the number and standard of living of families.

The source informed that the census serves also to give crucial information to the Government and other institutions, in order to better plan the country's development actions.

He stressed that the celebration of the African Statistics Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of statistics in planning and use of good statistical information.
