Angola: Government Pledges Funds for Literary Works

Kuito — The central Bie province deputy governor for political and social affairs, Carlos Ulombe da Silva, Tuesday in Kuito pledged local Government's readiness to release funds to cover the production of literary works.

Speaking at the closing of the 4th edition of the Youth Literary Award, the official underlined that the Executive will take the responsibility to cover the costs of production of literary works by youths.

He said the Government will release funds next year to cover the costs with the production of literary works, following insistent requests from young writers.

Carlos Ulombe da Silva also spoke of the need for the youths to keep this undertaking spirit, with a view to promoting the culture of the country, especially locally.

The 4th edition of the Youth Literary Award had the participation of 21 writers from the districts of Kuito, Kamacupa and Andulo. The award was won by Sílvio Albino Agostinho André, who got Akz 400,000 (about Usd 4,000).
