BATTERED by stiff competition, weakening Europe business and dropping passenger numbers on some major routes, Kenya Airways has now employed a group marketing manager to drive growth of the brand.
Yesterday, the national carrier announced the appointment of Chris Diaz to head its marketing division in line with its 10 year expansion strategy that entails massive network expansion.
"Diaz has joined us at a crucial time when we are in the process of expanding our route network with projected destinations to the Far East and other African markets." commented KQ managing director Titus Naikuni in a statement.
"His vast diverse experience in the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) sector and strong grasp of marketing to a global audience is an asset to Kenya Airways."
Prior to this appointment, Diaz worked at Bidco Oil Refineries Limited in a similar capacity. Despite his new job, he will continue to serve Bidco as a non-executive board member.
"Diaz is reputed as passionate about high quality corporate strategic communications and is experienced in building consistent Brand Equity for international services and products,' added Naikuni.
