Kenya: Aspirant Seeks Taita 'Diaspora'

A Taita Taveta women's representative aspirant Anna Nyambu has urged residents living and working elsewhere to return and register as voters in the county.

She said they need to elect visionary leaders to run the affairs of the county in the devolved governance structure. Nyambu said it is wrong for the Taita Taveta residents living in towns to keep lamenting about poor leadership in the social networks and yet they do not take part in electing the right the leaders.

"This is the only opportunity we have to exercise our democratic right and we cannot do this without registering as voters. That is why I appeal to my county kin to take this exercise seriously," said Nyambu. She was speaking to the press in Voi yesterday.

Nyambu said that there was need for the locals who stay in towns to travel back to their villages and register as voter so that they can be part in bringing the leadership change of the County.
