Kenya: New Elephant Mother Killed

An elephant was killed on Sunday at Kimana in Amboseli area This brings the number of jumbos killed in Kimana to three in two weeks. Richard Bonham of the Big Life Foundation said the elephant may have been poisoned.

The elephant was identified as Tatabamba, a 24-year old female, that gave birth on 27 October. The whereabouts of the calf are unknown as poisoning of elephants has increased in the area.

Two weeks ago, one of Amboseli's oldest bulls was killed. The 54-year-old bull together with another elephant were speared to death when they strayed into private farms.
