Kenya: School in Kathiani Wins Paint in Facebook Contest

A secondary school in Kathiani had has benefited from a fresh coat of paint courtesy of Crown Pants Facebook corporate social responsibility contest.

Kathunguini Secondary School was nominated by alumni Patrick Nzomo who scored straight 'A's in his KCSE exams last year. The school got 13,954 votes ahead of Lodwar Mixed Primary School which received 13,653 votes. Lodwar was nominated by Shynne Salvamore Malel.

"It's a harambee school that has changed lives in the community around it. It needs a long lasting attractive look," Nzomo wrote on the facebook page.

The innovative facebook CSR contest was launched in September by crown paints to leverage on the social connections of the public to nominate a not for profit institution that will benefit from a free paint make over.

The ceremony was also attended by Kathiani district education officer Miriam Kiema, school principal David Mwikya and the company's chief marketing officer John Hardley.
