The 12th edition of the Lamu Cultural Festival came to a close on Sunday with a vigorous donkey race, hundreds of youths competing in swimming, Swahili poetry, canoe, Jahazi and mashua races.
The event had an overwhelming number of both local and international tourists who flocked the historic town. Organised by the Kenya Tourism Board and Lamu cultural promotion group it received overwhelming support and sponsorship from France, Germany, Poland, Spain, the European Union and the National Museums of Kenya.
Present during the four-day event were head of EU delegation Lodewijk Briet, Spain ambassador to Kenya Javier Herrera and many in the corporate sector .
