Nigeria: Rights Commission Condemns Incessant Conflicts

Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Bem Angwe, has condemned the incessant political, ethnic and religious clashes that have occurred in some parts of Nigeria.

He spoke in Enugu at a stakeholder Consultative Forum on the National Action Plan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (NAP).

Angwe stressed the need to ensure harmonious co-existence amongst persons of the various ethnic groups, so they can fully enjoy their fundamental human rights.

In his remarks, Martin Ejidike of the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Geneva, said Nigeria ought to provide the lead for other African nations in the promotion and protection of human rights.
