Gambia: Gamcel Gives to SESDO

The national GSM service provider, Gamcel, Tuesday handed over a cheque in the sum of D140,000 to the Serekunda East Sports Development Committee.

The money which is meant to sponsor the community's Nawettan knockout competition was received on behalf of the Committee by Saikou Bah, the first vice president of SESDO, at a ceremony held at Gamcel headquarters along the Mamadi Manyang Highway in Kanifing.

Alieu Dampha, marketing supervisor of Gamcel, said his company has been partnering with the organisation for a long time. "The SIM Cards our customers buy is the money put together and gives back to our customers," he added.

Receiving the cheque, Saikou Bah recalled that when they were elected into office, Gamcel was one of the companies that opened their doors to them in terms of sponsorship. He also said that the national GSM service provider has contributed positively in terms of developing sports in Serekunda East and the country at large.

On his part, Alagie Nyassie, the secretary general of SESDO, said: "Since we came into office, we have been partnering with Gamcel and they have been sponsoring many of the sporting activities; that motivated us to excel when it comes to Nawettan organising."
