Zambia: Chileshe Kapwepwe Lands IMF Job

THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appointed former deputy minister of Finance Chileshe Kapwepwe as Alternate Executive Director for its Africa Group One Constituency.

This is contained in a statement released yesterday by Finance Ministry public relations officer Chileshe Kandeta.

Ms Kapwepwe served as deputy Minister of Finance from 2008 to 2011.

Earlier, she served as the chief executive officer of the National Airports Corporation Limited for seven years from 2001 to 2007.

Ms Kapwepwe's appointment comes barely a few weeks after former Bank of Zambia (BoZ) Deputy Governor Denny Kalyalya was appointed Executive Director of the World Bank Africa Group One Constituency.

Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has welcomed the appointment and described Ms Kapwepwe as eminently qualified and experienced to diligently aadvance the interests of the IMF Africa Group One Constituency.

A chartered accountant by profession, Ms Kapwepwe is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants ACCA (United Kingdom), a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) and also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath in United Kingdom.
