Gambia: Alleged Impersonator Arraigned

One Ebrima Boye alias Alhagie Boye was on Monday, November 19th 2012, arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates Court for the offence of impersonating a public officer contrary to Section 353(1) Laws of The Gambia, in a hearing presided over by Principal Magistrate Hilary Abeke.

The particulars of offence stated that the accused person sometime in the month of October and November 2012 at Banjulinding village, Kombo North District of West Coast Region had impersonated Dr. Njogu Bah, the secretary general and head of the Civil Service and the Attorney General and minister of Justice, Lamin Jobarteh; a representation the accused knew to be false, thereby committed an offence.

When the charge was read to the accused person, he pleaded guilty to the offence. The police prosecutor Sergeant 413 Sanyang applied for an adjournment to enable him to present the facts of the case.

Meanwhile, the presiding magistrate ordered for the accused to be remanded in prison till the next adjournment for facts and sentence. The case was adjourned to November 21st 2012.
