STRATHMORE University teams levelled the play off series 1-1 after winning their Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) Game Two matches at Railways Club.
In the men's finals Blades beat Equity 58-49 to level the best of 5 series 1-all. Equity took the first two quarters 14-12 and 16-10 in this tough encounter. The students then recovered to claim the last two 25-12 and 11-7.
Bill Nyagosia played a key role with 10 points as did Peter Shilton for Strath. Hugh Ayara sunk 14, George Omenda bagged 16 points, Ian Wachiye shot 13 and Victor Musyoka 10 for Equity.
The women's final saw Strathmore whip Kenyatta University "Oryx" 46-22 to also tie the seris 1-1. The winners did their home work well keeping KU key players at bay most of the time. They led in all the four quarters 11-8, 6-3, 12-4 and 17-7.
Mid way through the last quarter, they shot two back to back three pointers from player/coach Sylvia Kamau and Susan Manya to make the scores 38-21 and from there it was only one team.
Manya had 15 points, Manuela Biel scored nine and Pauline Oketch hit seven. For the losers, Susan Kinyua had eight and six each came from Marial Ayen and Bettie Kananu.
Games three and four will be played this weekend at the same venue. Meanwhile United States International University (USIU) torched host African Nazarene University 76-10 in a one sided University and Colleges league match over the weekend.
Nancy Atieno was the main star for the Flames as she bagged a game high 20 points for the winners who had taken a strong 34-2 lead at half time.
Strathmore University whipped Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Cuea) 58-19 behind Quinter Odongo's 18 points. Usiu Tigers mauled Multi Media University (MMU) 40-27 as Evans letting scored 18 points.
