Nigeria: CPC Chieftain Flays Bauchi Govt Over Facebook Sack

Bauchi — The Congress for Progressive Party gubernatorial candidate in the last election in Bauchi State, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has condemned the Bauchi State government for sacking Abbas Ahmed Faggo, over comments he made on his Face book page.

"I received with utter astonishment the news that a civil servant in the employment of the Bauchi State government, one Abbas Faggo, was fired for allegedly posting statements that were described as injurious falsehood against Governor Isa Yuguda on his Face book page.

It is truly shocking that even after Mr. Faggo had been cleared by a court of competent jurisdiction of these allegations against him, the state government went ahead with this rather spiteful action of firing him.

Considering that the inalienable right of freedom of speech and expression is guaranteed and enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as one of the fundamental human rights of Nigerian citizens, it is imperative that the Bauchi State government reinstates Abbas Faggo," he said.
