Liberia: ANC Gets Green Light to Canvass for Members

The proposed Alternative National Congress (ANC) has been given the green light to begin canvassing for members throughout the country.The green light was given the ANC by the National Elections Commission (NEC) on November 7, 2012 in a letter addressed to Mr. Lafayette E. O. Gould, Organizing Chairman of the ANC.

The letter signed by NEC's Executive Director Mr. John K. Langley, Sr. said, "I present compliments on behalf of the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission (NEC) and hereby confirm that the proposed Alternative National Congress (ANC) has met the preliminary requirements for registration of political parties as prescribed under section 3 and 4 of the guidelines relating to the registration of political parties and independent candidates in Liberia".

Executive Director Langley said, " In view thereof and consistent with Section 6 of said guidelines, the Board of Commissioners would have me inform you that the Proposed ANC can now proceed to canvass for members throughout the length and breadth of the 15 counties of Liberia in support of its desire to register a political party."
