Kenya: Women's Leaders Boost Voters' Roll

A women's lobby group in Coast province is mobilising the youth in the Mombasa Republic Council strongholds to register as voters.

The Women of the Flag founder and chairperson Emah Mbura and her team spent the better part of Tuesday morning in Majengo and King'orani, moving from door to door educating the youth on the importance of acquiring IDs and voting next year.

"We got warm reception from the youth. Some of them took the initiative to register as voters," said Mbura. She said the group, in partnership with other organisation in the area, has a network of about 2,000 women in the region.
