Kenya: Shako Calls for Support of Grassroot Fooball

FOOTBALL Kenya Federation have been requested to take football to the grassroot. Solwodi Ladies Sports Association director Elizabeth Shako, who was herself a candidate for the chairmanship at the football elections said: "The FKF team promised to take football to the grassroot when they took over the office.

We were promised we would see football development right away. So far we are not seeing much. Kenya can go far in international football if more attention and effort is put into talent searching.

The people we see playing in our main teams are the same ones we have been seeing in the national team. No wonder the performance has not changed." She said something needed to also be done to support clubs not playing in the FKF leagues. "That is where the talent can be discovered. These clubs cannot afford even their transport fair whenever they are invited for tournaments," she said.
