Rwanda: Gasigwa Bundled Out of ITF Men's Futures

RWANDA's top seed Jean Claude Gasigwa suffered a second round exit from the second leg of the ITF Men's Futures yesterday at Cercle Sportif in Rugunga.

Having been saved from an early exit on Wednesday following a heavy downpour which stopped the game after the first set, Gasigwa failed to overpower Italian Picco Francesco and went on to lose the second set 2-6.

Francesco had claimed the first set 6-1and though the Rwandan started brightly winning 2-0, the Italian exploited Gasigwa's mistakes to win the set 6-2.

Gasigwa was the only hope for the country following early exits from Olivier Nkunda and Dieudonne Habiyambere in the first round.

Meanwhile, Italy's Luca Pancaldi, who beat Austria's Lukas Jastraunig 6-3 6-4, will face Magg Christian of Austria in the today's semi final. Christian overcame Burundian Hassan Ndayishimiye 7-6 6-2.

In the other semifinal, Franscesco will face Munoz Abrew of Venesuela, who dispatched Vervoot Mark of Netherlands 6-2 6-1.

The second leg (Rwanda F1 Futures) ends on Sunday and it will be followed by the third leg (Rwanda F2 Futures) from November 26 - December 2.
