Uganda/Kenya: Thousands Set for MTN Marathon

Thousands of Ugandans are expected to take part in the ninth edition of the MTN Kampala marathon this Sunday. Dubbed 'Run with your heart,' the marathon is expected to bring experienced Kenyan runners, putting a competitive spectacle to an event that is mainly meant to collect funds for clean water for the people of Bududa.

This year's marathon is expected to spur some runners to achieve their own individual greatness; it happens in the year that a Ugandan, Stephen Kiprotich, won a gold medal at the London Olympics marathon.

The MTN marathon has brought on board sponsors like Huawei and New Vision. Pinnacle Security, the other sponsors, will provide top notch security with more than 200 man guards and canine dogs. Bududa suffered a major landslide this year. MTN raised about Shs 230m in the previous marathon. The money is expected to be more this year.
