Kenya: Workers Want Town Clerk Transferred

Bungoma county council workers have petitioned the Local Government PS ministry to immediately transfer the town clerk and treasurer over corruption claims.

Speaking to the Star yesterday the workers led by their union chairman Florian Nganga accused town clerk Samuel Kibaara and treasurer Kioko Onesmas for allowing corruption rings to flourish which had crippled services at the council.

"We cannot sit back and watch as two individuals bring down this council," said Nganga. He said the council once voted the most viable in the country is currently unable to pay it staff despite receiving Sh144 million from Local Authority Transfer Fund last week.
