A pregnant woman and a nurse were among the three people who died in an accident at Takaungu on the Mombasa-Malindi highway yesterday.

Her husband lost control of the Toyota saloon car and hit a tree when taking her to the Kilifi General Hospital fro Mtwapa.

The nurse, who was attending to the woman, also died on the spot. Kilifi police boss Clement Wangai said the couple had been referred to the Kilifi hospital by Oasis Dispensary medics when they detected complications.

"The child's sleeping position appeared not safe hence they were referred to the Kilifi General Hospital, but unfortunately their journey was cut shot," said Wangai.
