Kenya: CID Destroys Sh2 Million Embu Raw Bhang Consignment

The Sh2 million bhang haul confiscated from a car by CID officers was yesterday destroyed in Embu. The bhang, recovered after after a long car chase, was destroyed by the Embu deputy CID boss Daniel Kirorei in the presence of prosecutor Mulamula Imbwaga and county environment officer Christopher Muchiri.

The 81 rolls of the illegal drug was being ferried in six bags. The occupants and driver of the Toyota Probox deserted the car at the Kithimu market after the car chase with the police.

Kirorei said they sought orders to destroy the drug from an Embu court when their such for its owners was unsuccessful. The vehicle carrying the drugs had been impounded by the CID before its owner succefully sought court orders for its release.

Kirorei decried the high cases of bhang trafficking in the area saying the drug is transported from outside Embu. He said the police are keen to avert further trafficking of the drugs and usage by local youth.
