Kenya: Pyrethrum Board Sued

The Pyrethrum Board of Kenya has told the High Court in Nakuru that a suit by the Retirement Benefits Authority and some farmers threatens its revival plans.

Through its general manager in-charge of technical services Mary Ontiri-Magati, the board has opposed a request by RBA to permanently stop it from disposing off some of its assets intended for sale through a public auction.

On October 24, High Court Judge Anyara Emukule temporarily stopped the auction to give time to hear the case filed by RBA.

RBA is also seeking orders to compel the board to remit proceeds it gets from renting out its various properties to it to settle member contribution arrears of up to Sh717 million. Hearing of the case resumes on December 11.
