Zimbabwe: Chombo's Activities Stink

press release

The continued plunder of council resources by Ignatious Chombo, the Zanu PF minister of Local government, must be investigated immediately. It is on record that Chombo's continued meddling in local council affairs has virtually crippled service delivery in all the urban councils.Unless Chombo is stopped, the situation in local urban authorities will continue to deteriorate.

Chombo, a renowned corrupt baron has turned council authorities into his personal cash cow facilities and his activities have resulted in most urban authorities failing to provide essential services like water, collection of refuse and repair of roads.

Chombo's evil and shameful ploy of firing some MDC councilors, especially those that are opposed to his ill intentions in order to institute the so called "probe teams", when in fact they are his conduits for siphoning money from poor councils, is most unfortunate and would call for serious and immediate intervention to serve the collapsing council services.

What is more worrying is the continued exposure of innocent residents to all sorts of social vagaries whilst Chombo continue on his trail blazing rot. The lack of conscience and sensitivity to the people's plight by Chombo is characteristic of the Zanu PF leadership whose days in office are numbered and are on a mad rush to clean up whatever is left.

Chombo, in his considered intelligence or lack of it, believes everyone would fall for the usual and all too familiar Zanu PF antics of posturing and falsely apportioning blame to its opponents in an attempt to smear and soil the image of the MDC before the watershed elections penciled for 2013.

The MDC maintains and believes that local authorities should provide safe and secure local communities whilst availing people with accountable councillors and officers whose first priority is service first to the people. We call upon every concerned citizen to fight corruption at every facet and level of our lives.

The last Mile: Towards real transformation!!!
