Morocco: HRH Princess Lalla Salma Presides Over Ceremony to Celebrate National Anti-Cancer Day

Rabat  — HRH Princess Lalla Salma presided, on Thursday in Rabat, a ceremony to celebrate the National Anti-Cancer Day.

The ceremony was marked by handing international and national awards, the "Tobacco-Free Enterprise" label, the Lalla Salma Prize for the Fight Against Cancer under the "Secondary and High Schools Without Tobacco" programme.

It was also marked by the closing of the ordinary general meeting of the Lalla Salma Association to Fight Cancer (ALSLC).

The international and national awards, given annually to individuals known for their commitment to the fight against cancer, were awarded respectively to Dr Martine Piccart and Fatima Dadsi Boutaleb.

The "Tobacco-Free Enterprise" label was awarded this year to five companies, namely Shem's Publicité, CNIA Saada, the Banque populaire, BMCE Bank and Maroc Telecom.

HRH Princess Lalla Salma handed, later on, the best secondary and high schools without tobacco prize for the year 2012, successively to Moulay Rachid secondary school from the province of Errachidia and Lalla Meriem high school from the province of Guelmim.

She also took part in the closing ceremony of the ordinary general meeting of the Association to review its 2011 accounts and approve its 2013 action plan.

The ceremony was also marked by the screening of a film about the voluntary work programme prepared by the association to complement its interventions to support patients and their families.
