Nigeria: Imo to Sack Incompetent Teachers

Owerri — Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday said the government would not hesitate to sack any teacher who is found to be incompetent of performing his/her duties.

He said this in Owerri while flagging off the No Teacher No School programme. Okorochas said his administration has already established a monitoring department that would go round schools in the state to monitor teachers.

He said the monitoring department is also expected to check the dressing code, attendance to school among others.

He said the situation where teachers use illness as excuse for not attending classes would no longer be tolerated.
