At a ceremony held at the Brikama Area Council (BAC), the Council Chairman, Mr. Sunkarou Badjie presented a cheque amounting to one hundred thousand dalasi (D100,000) to the Councillor of Bullock as contribution towards the completion of the construction of an Arabic School in Sutusinjang, in the Foni Brefet District of West Coast Region.
Chairman Badjie said the Council is committed to supporting projects identified by communities in the region as they are the tax payers.
For his part, Modou Jonga, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of BAC, said the amount is meant for the completion of construction of the Arabic school which the Council has taken responsibility to build. He said in September this year the Council gave out a total of D129, 620.00 towards the project. He disclosed that the Council has committed itself to providing a total of D229, 620.00 for the construction of this community project. He said this is an indication of the commitment of BAC in ensuring that a convenient environment exists for teaching and learning to take place.
Adama Bojang, Acting Director of Planning and Development at BAC, expressed satisfaction for the way the funds are being utilized by the community in the construction of the school and also to how the work is progressing. She said the first amount that was given has been wisely spent and advised that the same trend should continue until the end.
In receiving the cheque on behalf of the community of Sutusinjang, the Ward Councilor, Ismaila Badjie thanked the Council for what he described as "a noble gesture". He said the intervention of the Council in the construction of the school is not only timely but can be an example for other communities in the area to emulate. He assured the Council that every butut will be spent wisely so as to ensure the completion of the construction work. He said they will all do their best in order to live up to expectation so as to be good examples for others.
