Tunisia: Delegation of Islamic Organisations in Carthage - Consecrating Moderate Islam in Tunisia

Carthage — Consecration of moderate Islam in Tunisia and promoting dialogue with the Salafi youths were the focus of a meeting that President Moncef Marzouki had Thursday with a delegation from the International Union of Muslim Ulemas and the North American Islamic Union.

On this occasion, Mr. Marzouki reiterated "regrets" at the recent death of two young hunger-striking Salafi detainees, a statement of the Presidency of the Republic reads.

"Violation of human rights has no longer any room in Tunisia; and this is also true in the case of the young Salafis," the President of the Republic affirmed.
