Egypt: Moroccan Planes Carrying Field Hospital, Humanitarian Aid to Gazans Arrive in Egypt

Three planes carrying the first batch of humanitarian aid sent by Morocco to Palestinians in Gaza arrived on Thursday morning at El Arich airport in Egypt (380 km east of Cairo).

This aid, to be dispatched on the same day to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing, includes a multidisciplinary medical-surgical hospital by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

Sent by order of Morocco's King Mohammed VI, the field hospital has all the technical means necessary for medical teams to fulfill their mission. These teams are composed of specialized medical units of the Royal Armed Forces, as well as Moroccan civilian physicians and paramedics.

Other Moroccan planes loaded with logistical and humanitarian support for the refugees will land in the days ahead at El Arich.

Within the same framework and on royal orders, the Mohammed V Foundation for solidarity provided 4 tons of drugs and 38 tons of foodstuffs, mainly powder milk and rice, for Gaza's children.

The hospital unit and humanitarian aid consignments are airlifted by the Royal Armed Forces.

This aid is dispatched to implement HM King Mohammed VI's decision to send a specialized Moroccan mission with sizeable logistical and humanitarian support.

Through this initiative, Morocco seeks to contribute to easing the suffering of the Palestinian population and underscore the Kingdom's solidarity with brotherly and friendly countries.

King Mohammed VI orders Moroccan field hospital immediately set up in Gaza

AFP, MAP (Marrakech, Morocco, Nov. 18, 2012) - HM King Mohammed VI ordered the immediate setting up of a Moroccan field hospital in the Gaza strip, spokesperson of the palace Abdelhak Lamrini said on Sunday in a statement.

The field hospital, which will help Palestinians injured in Israeli air strikes, will be composed of specialized medical units of the Royal Armed Forces, as well as Moroccan civilian physicians and paramedics.

The multidisciplinary medical-surgical hospital will be at the service of Palestinians and will reinforce existing medical capacities.

Through this humanitarian initiative, Morocco intends to contribute to easing the sufferings of a population that has become, for several days now, the victim of military attacks flatly denounced by the kingdom and the international community.

King Mohammed VI ordered the humanitarian initiative be implemented imminently and in coordination with Palestinian authorities.

Rabat also has a field hospital in neighbouring Jordan which treats Syrian refugees fleeing their country's civil war.
