Egypt: Police Teargas Protesters in Tahrir Square

Police forces fired teargas canisters at protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Wednesday evening.

The police arrested an unspecified number of protesters under a heavy veil of teargas, eye witnesses reported.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered on Monday in Tahrir Square to commemorate the first anniversary of the Mohamed Mahmoud clashes where scores of activists where killed.

Clashes are ongoing between the police and protesters in al-Qasr al-Aini and Mohamed Mahmoud Streets.
