IN RECENT TIMES the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Public Works has been carrying on some demolition exercises to enable the Ministry rehabilitate some of the deplorable roads in the city and its environs.

THE ENTIRE EXERCISE is intended to curtail the traffic congestion in Monrovia and other places and to also create an avenue for the free movement of the citizens. As a result of the demolition exercise, many citizens have been affected as some of their houses and business centers have been demolished in the process.

THE MINISTRY OF Public Works on the other hand, has created massive awareness about the demolition exercise and asked for the public's cooperation. The Ministry has demolished places on the Du-Port Road, Sinkor and other places all geared toward the same purpose.

WE ARE THANKING the public for the level of cooperation given to the Public Works Ministry during this demolition exercise. Those, many of whom have been affected in the process are highly cooperating with the Ministry as they swallow the bitter pills.

IN SUPPORTING THE process, some citizens especially those on the Du-Port Road have begun breaking down their business centers marked by the Ministry as a means of making way for the government to carry on the demolition exercise.

THIS IS A laudable thing that the public is doing. The whole exercise was not and has not been politicized as was done in the past where people went against government for demolishing their properties. As we commend our good citizens, we also want them to continue the level of cooperation which we are witnessing thus far because this will lead to a well developed city, something we all are yearning for.

WE ALSO WANT to thank the Ministry of Public Works for the level of awareness created before the process and it is because of such awareness that the public is cooperating. Once the people are educated and aware of what is to be done especially for the betterment of the country they will indeed cooperate because no one individual's interest is greater than our national interest.

LET PUBLIC WORKS continue the awareness exercise as it goes about carrying on the demolition exercise and other major undertakings so that the people will know and assist in the process.

AGAIN, WE THANK the public for their support and cooperation and also call on the Ministry not to just demolish but to carry on the activities for which people's properties have been destroyed.
