Kenya: The Fairmont Fetes Young Writers

The Fairmont Young Talent Competition endevours to identify young writers from Kenyan schools. The competition, now in its second year, is run by the Destination magazine and sponsored by the Fairmont Group.

The competition, which is divided into two categories,12-13 years and 16-17 years of age, attracted submissions from six schools in Nairobi and Rift Valley regions.

The panel of judges was made up of Caroline Mutoko - radio presenter, Kiss 100, Susan Wong - Editor, Capital Lifestyle magazine, Andy Hill- Editor, Swara, Dayo Forster -writer, Hilary Atkins - writer and Diana Lowe - experienced teacher. The winners, Oliver Llyod and Mugane Geteria, were last Monday feted at the Marula Manor in Karen, Nairobi.
