There was no meat dress like the one United States pop singer Lady Gaga wore when she made headlines at MTV European Music Awards in Madrid in 2010, but our local celebs came out dressed in their best apparel at the Victor Awards.
If anything, the Victor Awards that were held at the Celebration Centre on Wednesday night, were all about show-stopping performances, best-matched couples and increasingly skimpy fashion attire.
Henceforth the lightning and the well decorated stage was an icing on the cake
With acts ranging from Mudiwa to Mechanic Manyeruke, and appearances by swimming sensation
Kirsty Coventry and the upcoming dance crew, Rolex, the night was indeed awesome.
The red-carpet ceremony which some have since nicknamed Zim Grammys, was in its second year.
The awards celebrate and recognise different personnel in business, Government, religion, art, music and dance among other spheres of influence.
The event saw VIPs, celebrities and prominent people in one room enjoying their dinner before they joined the rest of the crowd in the auditorium for the prestigious awards ceremony.
Other notable figures that graced the event were Finance Minister Tendai Biti, Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi, ICT Minister Nelson Chamisa, business mogul Phillip Chiyangwa, talkshow host Mai Chisamba, Alick Macheso, Chiwoniso Maraire, Supa Mandiwanzira, Zodwa Mutunzi and Jonathan Denga.
Tich Mataz (Star FM), Hazvineyi Sakarombe (Power FM) and Ruvheneko Parinyetwa (ZiFM) hosted the glitz and glamour event, while guests were treated to live performances from Mudiwa, Ba Shupi, Cindy Munyavi, US artist Juanita Bynum, Zim Praise choir, Rolex and Manyeruke, among others.
The host and hostess who were well groomed in their nightwear managed to set their tone for the event, creating a celebratory and partying ambiance.
Gospel rapper Mudiwa and urban groover Ba Shupi opened the act with their hit song, Torarama Neminana, warming up the stage and setting the mood for the event.
During his second performance Mudiwa, threw in the crowd an expensive yellow-mellow Gucci jacket valued at US$300, as the show heated up.
Not to be outdone was urban grooves queen Cindy Munyavi who also serenaded the crowd while dressed in Future bubbly dress.
She performed her song Ndidzorere Moyo, a soulful ballad that proved to be a hit with guests at the event.
However, the night belonged to Baba Manyeruke who picked the Lifetime Achievement Award in music presented to him by Pastor Tom Deuschle and his wife.
The music guru also proved that he deserved the award when he played some of his golden hits that included Madhimoni and Nyoka Murenje.
Other sponsors of this prestigious event, which ended around 1am, were Four May, Pro Air, Traverze, Gold Tech, Oceane Perfumes and Women Excel. The awards are in honour of founder member, Victor Kambasha.
