Kenya: Lugusi Start Well in Western Mini-League

The FKF Western branch Provincial mini-league kicked off at Mumias Sugar Sports Complex yesterday with Lugusi and Mumcom making flying starts.

Lugusi beat Kolongolo from Busia 2-1 after scoring a last minute penalty while Mumcom trounced Kabras Warriors 3-2 in the second match.

Branch secretary George Baraza said 10 teams are taking part in the mini-league with two top teams expected to qualify for next year's Nationwide League.

They are Shinyalu, Lugusi, Ikolomani, Hamisi, Kabras, Kolongolo,

Mumcom, Lake View, Butere Sportif and New Northern Stars.

The two winners will join Outgrowers, the only team from the branch participating in the Nationwide League. The branch has Western Stima and newly promoted Kakamega Homeboyz in Premier League.

Baraza urged premier League clubs to take advantage of the mini-league which ends on Monday to scout for talent.
