Angola: Delegates Congratulate WHO/Afro Director On Creation of APHEF

Luanda — Delegates at the 62nd session of WHO/Afro congratulated the regional director Luís Gomes Sambo on the efforts toward creating the African Public Health Emergency Fund (APHEF), but expressed concerns over delays in its implementation.

The participants also said to be concern about the fact of the Trust Fund of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has not yet been created.

To this purpose, the health ministers were urged to work with their finance ministers to gain support for the creation of the Trust Fund account by the AfDB and ensure the inclusion of a budget line in their national budget for 2012 outstanding contributions to the APHEF.

The Regional Committee approved the nominations proposed for formation of the Monitoring Committee of the fund.
