Eritrea: Bel'ibui Administrative Area Witnessing Growing Irrigation Farming Activities - Report

Reports indicated that Bel'ibui Administrative area, Central Denkalia sub-zone, is witnessing growing irrigation farming activities. Accordingly, the arid-area inhabitants who indicated that they had no experience to this end until recently said that they would work hard to promote the ongoing innovative small-scale farming activities.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Hussein Idris and Mr. Nur Osman explained that they could engage in the new agricultural practice following implementation of effective community sensitization activities and the government's support.

They further voiced conviction that it has by and large improved their livelihood through promoting community-based style of living, and commended the Ministry of Agriculture's advisory role in this regard.

Bel'ibui village is located some 350 Km. north-west of the port city of Assab.
