Sudan: Colonel Sawarmi - Maj. Gen. Kamal Abdul-Ma'arouf Has Nothing to Do With Aborted Sabotage Plot

Khartoum — The spokesman of the Armed Forces, Col. Al-Sawarmi Khalid Saad, disclosed that the Commander of Heglij military operations, Maj. General Kamal Abdul-Ma'arouf, has nothing to do with the foiled subversive plot which was uncovered by the security authorities Thursday morning.

Col. Sawarmi pointed out that Maj. Gen. Abdul-Ma'arouf is currently carrying out his military tasks in South Kordofan State, far away from these incidents. He said that Maj. Gen. Abdul-Ma'arouf has the full right to sue any one who circulated the rumor on his involvement in the aborted sabotage attempt.

Meanwhile, he said that no names of involved Armed Forces' officers were announced up to now; adding that announcement of any involved persons depends on the progress of the investigations.
