Egypt: Government - Constitutional Declaration Added New Power to President

Prime Minister Dr. Hisham Qandil Friday 23/11/2012 presided over a ministerial meeting to follow up the current developments and the implications of the Constitutional Declaration, and demonstrations which were held in many governorates.

The government said in a statement following the meeting that the declaration added new power to the president.

Holding legislative authority by the president is the outcome of dissolving the People's Assembly, the parliament's lower house, the Cabinet said in a statement.

It said an end of the power concentration can be reached through expediting the drafting of the new constitution which will organize the relationship among all powers.
