Egypt: Deployment of U.S Troops in Sinai Denied

Egypt's Military Attaché in Washington Mohamed El-Keshky denied on Friday 23/11/2012 Israeli reports about plans to deploy US troops in Sinai or the presence of US troops in the peninsula.

Israeli Debka news website alleged that Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to a ceasefire for halting the eight-day Israeli Gaza operation after US President Barack Obama personally pledged to start deploying US troops in Sinai next week.

There are no plans or even intentions to deploy US troops in Sinai, Keshky said in statements.

Egypt has not approved and will never approve the presence of foreign troops on its lands, he stressed.

The only non-Egyptian troops allowed in Sinai are the UN peacekeeping forces, he added.
