Tripoli's first boxing tournament in more than 30 years began on Thursday (November 22nd), Libya Herald reported. Ten new Tripoli clubs will participate in the two-day event.
"It's an opportunity to officially bring the sport back to Libya," said former boxer and new Mahalla boxing team coach Nasser Eden. "This will be the first of many events," he added.
Benghazi resumed boxing tournaments two months ago. Slain Libyan dictator Moamer Kadhafi banned the sport in 1979.
