A new date has been fixed for the inauguration of the Council members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
The inauguration, which was scheduled to take place yesterday, was postponed to Monday, November 26.
The Commission's Public Affairs and Communications Director, Nasir Ladan, said the council members did converge for the inauguration, but didn't take place.
Members of the council include Funmilayo Falana, Wale Fapohunda, Kayode Komolafe, Eugenia Abu and Ranti Daudu. Others are Saudatu Mahdi, DOC Ezeigwe, Bem Angwe and Chidi Odinkalu as its chairman.
The council is saddled with the responsibility of investigating human rights violations, summoning persons accused violating people's rights and awarding compensation to victims amongst other things
